After Sauron was defeated, the lands had peace for a while.
Gradually the evil arose once more and the lands became very dangerous. James
Gildorian was a strong, keen-eyed elf. He lived in Lorien, near the southern
border. Every once in a while during the Third age, his friend Mithrandir would
pop in and teach him a skill or magic verse. James did not know why the wizard
would do this, yet he grew very fond of him. Then, one day a company from Rivendell
arrived. They brought news of Mithrandirs demise and James decided to journey to
Rivendell and perhaps even the Grey Havens. So he packed his belongings and treked
up to the Dimril Dale. But since Gandlf had perished in Moria, he chose foolishly
to pass through the Dwarven city. The Balrog was dead, yet orcs remained in plenty.
James gleefully slew many stray orcs and recieved to wounds. He was almost out when
he was attacked by several at once. He killed them all but had recieved a horrid
wound on his shoulder. It was poisened and he knew it, he became very weak and
sick. However he felt a burning rage deep inside him and continued on, right to the
blocked doors. He could not open them and almost lost hope. He fell asleep by the
door. In sleep he had a dream.....
In it he saw himself and a man in a cloak. The mans face
was concealed but from under his hood, the Elf could see two firey stones
gazing at him.
The man said nothing, but the Elf could hear words.
"Fire burns from within you. You are one of 7 sages who have
this unique ability. The Flame of Arda has chosen you. You shall weild the flame
to do good. Weild the flame for evil and thy own self shall be consumed by the fire.
Find the others like you and when you have all united, you shall be able to end the
suffering of Middle-Earth and its people. Whilst ye do this?"
The Elf only nodded, for he was afraid.
"You shall forget your past, You shall be called 'Gilnar
Gul-Galad' the Star-Fire"
The Elf opened his mouth to speak, but the man was gone.
He awoke to find he was back in the Mines of Moria. He heard
harsh voices in the distance and footsteps running. He had to get out before
the poison overcame him. He looked at the door and the memory of Gandalf brought
the words to his mouth, "Est Sularis donna Ergro!". The door quivered.
He put his hand forward and a shining stream of White Fire met the door, forcing
it open. Then he ran out amidst the ruins of the great trees and boulders.
The watcher in the water began to bubble. He ran towards a nearby cliff, to long to
jump, but he did anyway. While falling he did not scream, he recited a verse, the
first verse Gandalf had taught him. "Gladro ferum!" he shouted. His body glowed
and when he hit the ground he did not feel the pain. He tried to get up, but his
legs had broke. He knew he could never reach Rivendell now. The poison made him
shudder as it began to win. He saw a lone Elf walking in the distance and called
raspily to him. He was not loud enough. He stood on his knees and began to glow.
Slowly he became brighter, until he was bright as a shining star. The light attracted
the elfs attention. Then, exausted, James fell over.
When he awoke he was in a house. His old clothes were gone
and he was wearing a White silken shirt, a Red tunic and red pants. His boots were
white and his Gloves were red. His Grey cloak was hanging on his bed. He thanked
the Mystrious elf ranger and left for rivendell, swearing to repay the favor. He
had many encouters on his way, from Wolves, Trolls, Orcs and even a group of
Brigands. He was weary when he found the valley, and his travel stained clothes were
once more covered in blood. He was healed by the friendly elves and fully recovered.
He named himself Gilnar Gul-Galad and taught himself
to use fire as a great ally. He delved into scrolls of arcane knowledge
and made friendships with Humans, Hobbits and even some Dwarves to further
his pyromanctic skill.
Then he met a fellow Elf who was of his order. His
chosen name was Gwathnar and he also used fire. They banded together and
lived in Rivendell.
In the fair valley they began to gather all the fire-users
to them and thus formed the alliance of the Fire-Elves.
